Learning Outcomes
After the completion of the course, studens will know about current developments in the field of Early Intervention. They will be able to understand the links between screening, intervention and evaluation. They will have good knowledge of recognized programs of early intervention and they will be able to compare them. They will have good knowledge of the concepts of risk and protective factors. They will understand the influence of individual, environmental and cultural factos on early intervention. They will be able to cite and discuss programs of early intervention for neurodevelopmental and mental disorders of infancy and early childhood.
Course Content (Syllabus)
Historical perspectives of early intervention. Rationale for early intervention. Typical and atypical development in infancy and preschool years, and the effect of risk and protective factors on early development. Understand the role of individual differences and cultural variation on planning and applying early intervention programs. Understanding the link between assessment, early intervention, and evaluation. Comparative study of early intervention models. Examples of Early Intervention programs for Developmental and Mental Disorders of infancy and preschool years.
