Course Content (Syllabus)
Water-soil-plant relationships. Crop water requirements and irrigation scheduling. Irrigation methods: surface irrigation (furrow irrigation, border irrigation, level basin irrigation), sprinkler irrigation, drip irrigation. Irrigation water sources. Basic aspects of hydrology. Fluid statics (pressure variation with depth, manometers, hydrostatic thrust on plane and curved surfaces). Fluid hydrodynamics (Continuity, Bernoulli and energy equation, momentum equation). Hydraulic structures and flow measurements.Pipe flow hydraulics (Darcy - Weisbach and Hazen Williams equations, minor head losses, application of the energy equation for the solution of pipe flow problems, pumps and pipe flow).
