Course Content (Syllabus)
Hydrologic cycle. Precipitation. Measurement of precipitation and precipitation data analysis. Assessment processes of the components of the hydrologic cycle. Interception. Snow melt. Runoff. Catchment and drainage network characteristics. River flow data. Hydrograph, hydrograph analysis, effective rainfall, surface runoff and base flow. Streamflow measuring and streamflow data analysis. Flood runoff. Unit and synthetic hydrographs: investigation and their applications. Statistical analysis of hydrological data and frequency analysis of extreme values. Rainfall intensity - duration - frequency curves. Analysis of rainfall data. Impact of climate change and land use on the water balance. Flood routing. Soil erosion and sediment transport. Drought. Drought indicators. Drought risk analysis. Reservoir sizing and reservoir operation. Mathematical models in hydrology and analysis of rainfall - runoff models.
