Course Content (Syllabus)
The soil habitat. Soil microorganisms: bacteria, actinomycetes, archea, fungi, algae, protozoa, viruses, destribution of microorganisms in the soil. Microbial metabolism. Microbial ecology - interaction of soil microorganims with organic and inorganic constituents of soil. Interaction of soil microoorganisms with physical and chemical properties of soil - Carbon cygle. Organic matter decomposition. Nitrogen cycle. Nitrogen mineralization, fate of ammonium in soil, fate of nitrate in soil. nitrogen fixation. P cycle. Cycles of other elements. Mycorrhizae, mycorrhizal biotechnology. Microbiology and biochemistry of xenobiotic biodegradation. Applications
