Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
1. know the basic principles of remote sensing and GIS and the main applications in agriculture,
2. be familiar with the common sources of geographic data and perform image photointerpretation,
3. handle the main tools of digital image processing and Geographic Information Systems softwares.
Course Content (Syllabus)
Technical details of aerial photography, principles of photogrammetry, electromagnetic spectrum, spectroscopy, spectral signatures of surface targets, photointerpretation, satellite remote sensing, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), cameras and sensors, technical details of image acquisition, digital image processing and enhancement, applications in agriculture and precision farming. Geographic Information Systems, geographic models, importing and exporting geographical data, data formats, spatial analysis, overlay analysis, proximity analysis, cartographic output, elements of thematic cartography, applications in agriculture and precision farming.
