Learning Outcomes
After completing the course, students will be able to: - understand the opportunities and threats of entrepreneurial activity in the rural - develop and evaluate a business plan - study and evaluate the internal and external environment of an enterprise - understand the linkage between entrepreneurship and rural development - acknowledge the value of innovation for rural entrepreneurship - understand the contribution that processes of knowledge creation through education, training, and advisory services have to rural entrepreneurship - propose improvements in the structure and operation of rural enterprises - are familiar with good entrepreneurial practices and can implement these practices - understand the gender dimension of entrepreneurial activities in the rural - acknowledge the importance of social capital and networks as catalysts for entrepreneurial activities in the rural

Introduction to entrepreneurship. Rural entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurship in theory and practice. Entrepreneurial and social environment. Identifying entrepreneurial opportunities. Creating entrepreneurial opportunities. Threats to entrepreneurship. Types of enterprises. Entrepreneurs’ characteristics. Cost accounting principles. Innovation. Business planning - Business plans. Examples of good entrepreneurial practices in rural enterprises. Microfinance. Education, training, information, mentoring, and consultancy. Social economy and social entrepreneurship. Networking and entrepreneurial networks. Coorporate Social Responsibility. B-corps. Gender and entrepreneurship.
