Course Content (Syllabus)
Concept and components of water resources management. Framework for the protection and management of water resources. Water management institutions. Water resources management at national and supranational level. Water resources utilization projects and water bodies. Availability of water resources and water uses. Water demand management. Planning, programming, operation and maintenance of water resources systems. Strategies for the sustainable and integrated management of water resources. Technical management of water resources: empirical approaches, mathematical analysis, mathematical programming, multi-criteria analysis, decision support systems. Virtual water and water footprint. Economic and Social Aspects. Water pricing. Mathematical models for water resources management.
