Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. recognize and understand the importance of AI in the improvement of the reproductive and productive parameters. 2. understand the mechanisms involved in the seasonality of the farm animals. 3. recognise and understand the control of reproduction via the AI and the methods that they should follow to improve their farming.

Course Content (Syllabus)
Advantages and disadvantages of artificial insemination (A.I.). Selection and training of the male. Quallitative and quantitative characteristics of semen. Semen collection and preservation. Semen evaluation. Laboratory processing of semen. Selection of females - detection of oestrus and ovulation. Insemination procedures in farm animals. Hormonal treatment for induction and synchronization of oestrus. Control of fertility. Factors affecting variation of the results of A.I.
