Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the module the students are expected to: - relate the theory of modern and contemporary art to the management policies of art collections and the museum policies - know the history and policies of Greek private and public art collections and museums - explore issues arising in relation to the collection and exhibition of contemporary art - to become familiar with contemporary exhibition practices and their relationship with digital technology - to explore the ways of presenting and exhibiting their work in the private and public space. - to explore issues related to the integration of their work in private and public collections

Course Content (Syllabus)
Modern art and the museum / the history of aesthetic approaches and theoretical reflections around the concepts of avant-garde, mass culture, reproduction, collection and exhibition of artworks / contemporary art in private and public space / public and private collections, museums and galleries of modern and contemporary art in Greece: historical background, collection management policies and narrative practices / issues of collecting and presenting contemporary art forms such as performance and digital media / contemporary exhibition practices and digital technology.

Description
Teaching involves use of computers and systems of projection and sound for power point presentations, video projections and sound reproductions, internet, and the e-learning platform for uploading all relevant educational material (presentations, bibliography, etc.). Communication with the students takes place via email and the e-learning platform which is also used for assessment.

The evaluation of the students involves: * presence and participation in the lectures (20%) * presence and participation in the relevant scheduled educational activities (visits to museums, conferences, events, etc.) (10%) * assignments, presentations, exercises, etc. (20%) * final assignment (50%)
