General Prerequisites
Good knowledge of the historical and ecclesiastical context of the first eight centuries and the interpretation of Holy Scripture. Appropriate knowledge of the dialogue between the Fathers of the Church and the philosophers.Good knowledge of the texts of the Ecumenical Councils and the theology of the Fathers of the Church. Comprehension of the Prolegomena (basic tenets) in dogma and the Dogmatics of the Orthodox Catholic Church. Good knowledge of the configuration of the liturgical praxis and the cultural records of the Church (Christian literature and art).
Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course students will be able: - To familiarize students with the foundations of the Christian faith, life and the cultural records of the Church Christian literature and art). - Comprehension of the basic Knowledge of the main dogmas of the Orthodox faith (centered upon Triadology, Christology and Ecclesiology) in synchrony and diachrony with the way of life of the ecclesial community. - To connect Dogmatics organically and inextricably with the biblical testimony and patristic tradition, together with the ethos and worship, theory and practice of the Church. - To compose and interprete the content of the faith of the Orthodox Church with the data and the demands of the modern world.

Course Content (Syllabus)
COURSE DESCRIPTION: DOGMATICS OF THE ORTHODOX CHURCH II: Exact exposition of the orthodox faith. SCHEDULE OF LECTURES (Syllabus): 1) Theological gnosiology. Fundamental distinctios of the orthodox gnosiology. 2) The theophanies as a sourses of knowledge about God. 3) Motion and perichoresis in the triune-Godhead. 4) The One and synchronously Triune God. The triune God in the teaching of he Cappadocian Fathers and John the Damasnene. 5) Unions and Distinctions in the Holy Trinity. The distinction between the divine essence and uncreated energies of God. The energy-based relationship between God, creation and man. The consequences and extensions of the triadological dogma in anthropology. 6) The Mystery of the incarnate Economy and the purpose of the Incarnation. 7) The first Christological heresies, their confrontation and the way of union of the two natures in the person of Christ. The Christological dogma of Chalcedon. 8) Consequences of the hypostatic union of the two natures of Christ. The two natural wills and the two natural energies of Christ.The Theotokos and Orthodox dogma.The consequences and extensions of the christological dogma in anthropology. 9) Creation out of nothing. In image and in likeness of man. Interpretation of original sin and its consequences on creation and man. Triadology, Christology and Ecclesiology in the patristic tradition and in contemporary theological thought. 10) The new man in Christ. The salvation of the “whole” man. “Community of theosis”. 11) Christocentric Ecclesiology. The Church as “body of Christ”. The Holy Spirit and the Church. The charismata, offices and the institutional organization of the Church. The identity of the Church. 12) Τhe Sacraments as medium and way of renewal, therapy and salvation of man or an oration “On the Life in Christ” of the world. The unity of the Church in the Eucharist and the Bishop. 13) The course of the Church through history towards eschata. Community of eschata. The renovation of creation. Eschatological anticipation and perfection (paradise and hell).

Description
Oral examination in groups of five students(80% of the final grade). The participation of students in the classroom as well as their undertaking of assignment will also be taken into consideration(20% of the final grade).
