Learning Outcomes
On completion of the module students will be able to describe and analyze the particular ecclesiastical regime of Mount Athos as well as the state legislation affecting Mount Athos along with the canonical provisions to which this self-governed region of the Greek State is subjected.

Course Content (Syllabus)
This module examines the history of Mount Athos as well as the sources of the Mount Athos Law. It also introduces students to the setting of the monastic life. The prevailed administrative system of Holy Mountain is examined thoroughly. Students will explore the extent to which Church and State relations accommodates the special status of the monks in Mount Athos. This module introduces students to the Property law and the features and principles of the administration of justice on Mount Athos.
