With the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the Greek Revolution of 1821, the course will explore its footprint in Modern Greek poetry, as well as on the European and universal literature by examining a series of poems, beginning with the work of Kalvos and Solomos who are considered to be the representative poets of the Greek Revolution. More specifically, the course will examine the ideological and aesthetic reflections of ideologies and concepts related to the Greek revolution (e.g. freedom, heroism, European politics, ancient and modern Greeks, etc. ) on the poetic genre. Examination either by oral exam or by paper submission or a combination of both.
