Prerequisites
General Prerequisites
Good knowledge of the historical and ecclesiastical context of the first eight centuries and the interpretation of Holy Scripture. Appropriate knowledge of the dialogue between the Fathers of the Church and the philosophers.Good knowledge of the texts of the Ecumenical Councils and the theology of the Fathers of the Church. Good knowledge of the configuration of the liturgical praxis and the cultural records of the Church (Christian literature and art).
Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course students will be able: - To familiarize students with the sources, findings, usage and study of a specific secondary literature. Method of scientific research and authoring work in the field of Dogmatics. Τo be acquainted with the milestones, faculties and personalities that gave shape and expression to Orthodox dogma to date. - A thorough examination and interpretation of specific topics of the foundations of the Christian faith, on the basis of the life and the cultural records of the Church (Christian literature and art). - Τhe research and study of the faith and life of the Church community in its timeless path and synodal formulations of Orthodox dogma, with Triadology and Theology at its center, as well as the dogma of creation and the Fall of Man. - Specific topics and literature concerning scientific research and writing are presented, interpreted and discussed, together with a historic overview of Dogmatics to date.

Course Content (Syllabus)
COURSE DESCRIPTION: Specific topics and literature concerning scientific research and writing are presented, interpreted and discussed, together with a historic overview of Dogmatics to date. SCHEDULE OF LECTURES: 1) Presentation and usage of electronic files from a specific bibliography of sources and reference books on topics connected with the Dogmatics of Orthodox Catholic Church. 2) Scientific methodology of design and research, as well as the searching and usage of bibliography (editions of texts and secondary literature), and indexing and authoring of work on topics of dogmatic elements (theory and practice). 3) Meaning, sources, formation and the essence of Orthodox dogma. 4) Historical overview of orthodox dogma from the beginning until 19th century with the examination of historical and spiritual factors of its formation (main milestones, faculties and personalities). 5) The Dogmatics of Orthodox Catholic Church during recent years in the contemporary Greek written works. 6-7) Critical analysis of the Greek-Orthodox manuals of Dogmatics written by Greek theologians during the 20th century, based on general principles, criteria and keys of Orthodox theology. 8) Theology and Economy: Eternal self-manifestation and historical revelation of the Holy Trinity. 9) The Theophanies and Divine signs (θεοσημείες) in creation and in history. Theological knowledge of God. 10) The dogma of creation in dialogue with the modern Physics. Original sin, the problem of Evil and the consequences of its misinterpretation. 11) The interpretation of Trinitarian dogma as basis of dialogue with questions and challenges from the Humanities. 12-13) Presentation, conversation and critical examination of the essays by postgraduate students.
