General Prerequisites
Good knowledge of the historical and ecclesiastical context of the first eight centuries and the interpretation of Holy Scripture. Appropriate knowledge of the dialogue between the Fathers of the Church and the philosophers.Good knowledge of the texts of the Ecumenical Councils and the theology of the Fathers of the Church. Good knowledge of the configuration of the liturgical praxis and the cultural records of the Church (Christian literature and art).
Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course students will be able: - A thorough examination and interpretation of specific topics of the foundations of the Christian faith, on the basis of the life and the cultural records of the Church (Christian literature and art). - The research and study of the faith and life of Church community in its timeless path and synodal formulations of Orthodox dogma, with the Divine Economy at its center, as well as the Mystery of Christ and the soteriological consequences for creation and Man. - Specific issues concerning Ecclesiology are presented, interpreted and discussed, on the basis of the Church Fathers and the approaches of contemporary theologians to themes related to Orthodox teaching of the Church.

Course Content (Syllabus)
COURSE DESCRIPTION: Specific issues concerning Christology, Anthropology and Ecclesiology are presented, interpreted and discussed, on the basis of biblical testimony, the interpretation of the Fathers, the liturgical and synodal praxis and the approaches of contemporary theologians to themes related to the faith of the Church. SCHEDULE OF LECTURES: 1) The fleshless (άσαρκη) and incarnate (ένσαρκη) presence of the Logos in creation and history. 2) The purpose of the Incarnation of the Logos in the theology of recent years. 3) The dogma of Chalcedon. The dogmatic consequences of the hypostatic union in the Church Fathers and recent written works. 4) Christology and Anthropology: The God-Man (Theánthropos) as the measure of all things. Christ in Protology, History and Eschatology. Christ, the first and the last, beginning and end . 5) The reception of Christological dogma in contemporary theological thought. Christological dogma as the basis of dialogue for the questions of our epoch. 6) Creation and the Church. Patristic and contemporary descriptions, icons and schemata about the Church. 7) The Divine Economy in Christ and the work of the Holy Spirit. 8) The Church as Body of Christ. The Church as institution and charismatic in the conversation concerning contemporary theological research and praxis. Charismatic life and the institutions of the Church. The inextricable connection between Christology and Pneumatology in Orthodox Ecclesiology. 9) The Mysteries of the Church or in other words an oration On the Life in Christ of the world. 10) Conditions for Church unity in the Holy Eucharist and the Bishop in the Orthodox theology. Related problems and challenges for contemporary theological thought and praxis. 11) Healing (θεραπεία), charismatic theosis and the salvation of Man as a person in the life of the ecclesial community. Eschatology: Paradise and Hell. Christology and Anthropology: The God-Man (Theánthropos) as the measure of all things. 12-13) Presentation, conversation and critical examination of the essays by postgraduate students.
