Learning Outcomes
1.Understand how the sedimentary basins are formed under different geotectonic regimes. 2.Understand how the Accommodation Space is changing during the geotectonic evolution of a basin. 3.Understand and recognize terms and techniques of sequence stratigraphy. e.g., System Tracts, Sequence Boundary, etc. 4.Recognize and use various diagrams (Chronostrtigraphic Charts – Wheeler Diagrams) and determine the filling history of a basin.

•The state of the Lithosphere and its influence to Sedimentary Basin Formation •Pull-apart Basins – Lithospheric Stretching •Compressional Basins •Strike-slip Basins. •Other types of Basins, e.g., Lithospheric Sagging etc. •Interpretational tools in Sequence Stratigraphy •System Tracts •Recognition of Sequence Boundaries •Composition and Interpretation of Chronostratigraphic charts and Wheeler diagrams
