Learning Outcomes
1) Familiarization with the basic principles of vector calculus, units in Physics and fundamental physical quantities.
2) Improving previous knowledge on kinematics and Newtonian dynamics
3) Introduction to Continuum Mechanics (stress, deformation, elastic moduli), and basic principles of fluid physics, as a prerequisite for the relevant Geology disciplines (e.g. Geophysics, Tectonics, Hydrogeology, Meteorology, Engineering Geology, etc.)
4) Understanding of the basic principles of electric field and electric current
5) Introduction in the basic principles and properties of the magnetic field
6) Introduction in the basic physical quantities of wave propagation and optics (harmonic vibrations, electromagnetic waves, light).
