Course Content (Syllabus)
Fundamental concepts of Chemistry. Periodic table of the elements. Nomenclature of compounds. Chemical reactions. • Quantum theory of the atom. Electronic structure. Periodic properties. • Ionic and covalent bonds. Molecular geometry. Chemical bonding theory. • The states of matter: liquids, solids. • Solutions and formation of solutions. Colligative properties. Colloids. • Chemical equilibrium. Acids and bases. Thermodynamics and equilibrium. • Electrochemistry: redox reactions, galvanic cells, electrolytic cells. • Introduction to coordination compounds. Structures and isomers of coordination compounds.
