Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, students will:
-Have the ability to render a visible subject in color, mainly focusing on the use of oil on canvas in life sizes (180x150cm), using given live subjects set up in the studio (human model, composition of objects, etc.).
-Have the ability to successfully use the technique of watercolor on paper as a preparatory draft for larger studies as well as a final study of color and production of autonomous work with watercolor.
-Be able to process an artistic idea and develop it through painting.
-Know the special technology of the materials of oil, watercolor and acrylic paint in theoretical and practical level.
-Be familiar with the terminology of the visual arts (technical and theoretical terms).

Course Content (Syllabus)
Commence of the student's overall visual cultivation, setting as a main axis their visual research through the medium of painting. Through daily work in the studio, as well as through seminars that approach international contemporary painting, with visits to Museums and Galleries in Greece and abroad, but also with seminars and visits to artist's studios, the students are invited to develop an artistic language through painting, which will be the basis of their primary artistic proposal in the coming years.
The class includes painting exercises on canvas in the studio, from observation (human model, composition of objects) mainly with oil on canvas, but also seminars and watercolor exercises, as well as experimentation with other materials such as acrylic and pastel.
Seminars on the use of materials, such as paint technology, solvents and mediums, canvas and canvas preparation, the use of brushes and color theory. Seminars on contemporary artists who have chosen the language of painting as an artistic proposal.
Students' personal research on the evolution of painting in the history of Art, and its place today. The research is done through bibliography in the library, on the internet and in visits to museums, galleries, Art Fairs, and Biennials of Contemporary Art.
In the form of seminars, emphasis is placed on issues of professional practice (creating a portfolio, organizing exhibitions, etc.) in order to pose problems and develop students' potential within the artistic professional space.

Description
Visual Presentations take place during the course, and image processing software is available.
Online visits to galleries, museums and press articles are suggested and being used through the studio and library.
Students use e-mail as a direct means of communication and have access to the studio's announcements posted on the Department's website.
