Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, students will:
-Become familiar with large painting studies from observation of the human model and still life, using mainly oil on canvas.
-Have laid some foundations for the creation of a rich visual language that will serve as a tool for the production of contemporary artworks in the coming years.
-Have understood how the elements of a natural study (composition, plasticity, color, transparency and opacity, density and dilution), and the directional hierarchy of these individual elements, are connected with the production of an autonomous painting in the following semesters.
-Have developed a critical view of their own work as well as for the work of other artists.

Course Content (Syllabus)
The class includes large studies from observation of the human model and still life, using oil on canvas. Emphasis is placed on the use of the language of painting (composition, plasticity, color, transparency and opacity, density and dilution), and the directorial hierarchy of these individual elements. It is established that these elements of the language of painting that are acquired in the study of the natural, are connected and also used in different ways for the construction of autonomous works of contemporary art that will be proposed in the coming years.
The student aims to create a rich visual language that will serve as a tool for the production of contemporary art in the coming semesters.
Students begin to develop a critical discourse both on their own work as well as on the work of other artists.
Students' research on the evolution of painting in the history of Art, and its place today. The research is done through bibliography in the library, on the internet and by visits to museums, galleries, Art Fairs, and Biennials of Contemporary Art.
In the form of seminars, emphasis is placed on issues of professional practice (creating a portfolio, organizing exhibitions, etc.) in order to pose problems and develop students' potential within the artistic professional space.

Description
Visual Presentations (projections) take place during the course, and image processing software is available.
Online visits to galleries, museums and press articles are suggested and being used through the studio and library.
Students use e-mail as a direct means of communication and have access to the studio's announcements posted on the Department's website.
