Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, students aquire the necessary and sufficient Knowledge to understand key issues about copyright and related rights law. They acquire the skills, in their later professional life, as creators of intellectual property works to claim their rights and protect their financial and moral interests, especially when they enter into contracts for the financial exploitation of their works.
Course Content (Syllabus)
The content of the course includes: The legal notion of the 'work' as an intellectual creation, derivative works, composite works, works of joint-authorship, collective works, the author's principle, the emploee as author, the original aquisition of copyright, etc. Author's rights according Law 2121/1993 and in particular the two broader categories, the moral rights and the economic rights (eg. the reproduction right, the right to distribute the work, right of paternity, right to preserve the integrity of the work, etc.). The economic exploitation of the works (contracts and licenses of work expoitation). Limitations and exceptions to economics rights provided in Law 2121/1993. Basic references to the legal protection/enforcement.
