Course Content (Syllabus)
PAINTING 6 - Cycle (2/4) of deepening and searching the personal style of the students of the 5th Painting Studio, as well as of the visual means and techniques.
This cycle concerns the studio research and the teaching of the artistic search of the students which is completed in four semesters, Painting 5 to 8.
The "Painting 6" of the 5th Painting Studio concerns the 1st Semester out of the total of four of the cycle. The students are invited by the supervising teachers to conduct their personal artistic research, as well as exercises of specialized technical and morphological knowledge of the materials (textures, materials, constructions, ready mades, etc.) As they take part in projects with thematic or conceptual content. Also taught and researched at a theoretical and technical level the possibility of using individual or combined visual media, such as painting, construction, digital image, multimedia, etc. Conceptual and theoretical research arising from artistic – studio practice. Introduction to exhibiting and presenting students artwork. Students are also invited to record and present in text their thoughts on their involvement during the art process. At the tutorial level, digital image processing programs are taught according to the level of knowledge of each student. As face-to-face laboratory research and teaching focuses on students' particular abilities, the duration and content of the exercises potentially specializes accordingly.
The content of the studio lessons Painting 5 - 8 is harmonized with the aesthetic direction of the 5th Painting Studio that focuses on the teaching and the free artistic-studio research of painting in its widest form. It combines the tradition of artistic practice with contemporary and diverse concepts in the field of visual arts. Teaching and research on the infrastructure of "visual language". The artistic practice with the use of design or in general the organization and the composition of painting space. Also, as in every semester of the 5th Painting Studio, the following potentially take place:
• lectures by invited artists and art theorists.
• collaborations with other Studios and Directions of the Department, with other Departments of School of Fine Arts and AUTh.
• educational trips or visits to major art events, museums and galleries.
• cooperation with cultural organizations and institutions, such as museums and art galleries, or Schools of Fine Arts of other Universities.
• participation of the Studios students in art exhibitions in Greece and abroad
