Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course students will:
- ensure the balance of bodies οn a plane and in space
- design diagrams of cross-sectional loads in two-dimensional and three-dimensional problems
- calculate the area moment of inertia
- calculate the distribution of external forces on a truss as internal loading of its beams
Course Content (Syllabus)
Introduction. Systems of forces. Equilibrium of Rigid Bodies. Distributed Forces; Centroids and Centers of Gravity. Bodies with complex geometry (planar trusses, etc.). Internal forces. Cross-sectional loading diagrams of planar and non-planar beams. Cross-sectional loading diagrams in 3D. Stress and Strain Tensors.
