Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course the students should be able to:
• to plan the stages of a geotechnical investigation
• to conduct ana analyze the results of laboratory tests such as classification, compaction, permeability,
compressibility and shear strength tests
• to derive the appropriate design soil parameters from the laboratory tests
• to analyze the results of insitu tests, such as standard penetration, cone penetrometerm pressumeter,
dilatometer, vane and plate test
• to derive the appropriate design soil parameters from the insitu tests
Course Content (Syllabus)
Geotechnical investigation: general principles, planning, drilling and sampling methods
Laboratory tests: classification, compaction, permeability, compressibility and shear strength testing.
