Learning Outcomes
With the succesful completion of the course the students will be familiar with the ways of solving the traffic problems in towns of today with a more efficient use of the existing transport infrastucture - in the framework of Traffic Management and Demand Management schemes- instead of the construction of new transport infrastructure. In addition they will be able to estimate the demand for parking in an urban area and to design the parking lots.

Course Content (Syllabus)
The traffic problem in urban areas. Concepts and content of traffic management approach. Traffic management measures (one-way streets, application of reverse flow, channelization of intersections, ramp metering) and demand management measures: prioritization for public transport and high occupancy vehicles, traffic restriction for certain areas and for peak periods, promotion of walking and cycling. Application of new technologies for traffic management. Basic concepts and characteristics of parking. Methodology of calculation of parking demand. Presentation of parking management measures. Principles and design standards for parking areas
