Learning Outcomes
After the successful completion of the course the students will: a. Gain a comprehensive understanding and knowledge of global environmental problems and their relationship to development. In particular, the concept of sustainable development and its role as a methodological tool for dealing with environmental problems is analyzed in depth. b.Understand the key environmental issues and how they are addressed by the European Union in the different thematic areas. c.Get to know the EU institutions and their role in the implementation of European environmental policy. d.Become familiar with the methods and policies implemented by the European Union to address the problems of environmental degradation and depletion of natural resources through the presentation of specific examples.

European Union. EU history, institutions, bodies, and services. EU Environmental action plans. Financial tools for environmental policy. European Union thematic environmental policies (air, water, chemicals, industry and technology, nature and biodiversity, noise, soil, energy, health Green economy. From sustainable to green growth / Europe 2020.Implementation of EU environmental policy in Greece and in other member countries - examples.
