Students are expected to • become familiar with the basic characteristics of the ancient greek language • be able to deconstruct and reconstruct an ancient greek text, • extract histrorical information from the context and the form of a given text • revalue the ability of the ancient greek language to "speek" with clarity • discover new ways to understand the past as well as the present.

Course Content (Syllabus)
The aim of this course is the familiarization with the distinctive elements of Ancient Greek language so that Ancient Greek texts can be used as historical sources not only through their content but also through their form. 1. The basic characteristics of ancient greek language and the invention of history 2. Noun. Three Genders, three cases and three numbers 3. Nouns. The causal system 4. Verbs. Tenses, Infinitive and Participle 5. Verbs. Aspect 6. Verbs. Moods 7. Etymology 8. Form clauses to sentences 9. From loose to periodic style 10. The stucture of the periodic style 11. Hyperbaton 12. Conditionals in historiography 13. How to translate ancient greek
