General Prerequisites
For the attendance of the teaching sessions and clinical trainning in the subject of Urology, in order to achieve the desired learning objectives as they described below, students must have adequate knowledge in: anatomy, histology and embryology, physiology, pathophysiology and pathology of the conditions and diseases of the urinary tract and the male genital tract. In addition to successfully attend the clinical practice, students are required to be familiar to the basic methods of physical-clinical examination and diagnosis.
Learning Outcomes
Upon successfull completion of the tutoring courses as well as the clinical practice, students should be able to: - Recognize the position of organs of the male urinary and genital system on the body. - Take a basic urological history and apply basic methods of physical examination, especially performing a digital rectal examination and palpation of the scrotum. - Describe the importance and usefullness of laboratory tests in order to check the function and dysfunction of the male urinary and genital system. - Recognize the organs of the male urinary and genital system in imaging studies, particularly in ultrasonography. - Know the correct technique for inserting a self-retaining bladder catheter (Foley), as well as the potential difficulties and complications. - Recognize the emergencies of the male urinary and genital system (renal colic , testicular torsion , urosepsis etc. ) and indicate the suitable treatment options. - Present (under guidance) a simple urologic clinical case and to indicate the appropriate therapeutic options.

Course Content (Syllabus)
The teaching of the Urology course at the 1st Urology Department will take place in five (5) groups of approximately thirty (30) students. The training for each group will last three weeks and includes tutorial teaching and clinical practice. Α. Tutorial teaching The nine (9) hourly tutoring courses will take place in the auditorium of the “G. Gennimatas” General Hospital, which is located on the ground floor, in the area of ​​the emergency rooms, as well as in similar areas of the “Papageorgiou” General Hospital. The subjects that will be developed in the tutorials are the following: -Getting familiar with the urinary tract -Prostate diseases -Male sexual and reproductive function -Functional voiding problems - Female Urology -Urinary tract infections -Urolithiasis - Endourology -Tumors of the urinary bladder -Renal tumors - Testicular tumors -Urological emergencies Β. Clinical practice The mandatory clinical practice of the students takes place in the clinic rooms on the 2nd floor of the “G. Gennimatas” General Hospital and in similar areas of the “Papageorgiou” General Hospital every Tuesday-Friday 8.00-12.00 a.m. During the mandatory four hours per day, the monitoring of the surgeries as well as the regular clinics is done in rotation in subgroups of 10 people. In particular, students have the opportunity to attend the following activities after consultation with the coordinator, faculty members and Clinic doctors. - Surgeries Wednesday-Thursday-Friday 8.30-12.00 am (monitoring in the operating room up to 2 students after consultation) - Participation in the 24h emergency service according to the hospital's Emergency Program - Regular General Urology Clinics, as well as Special Clinics Tuesday to Friday 09:00-12:00 a.m. The 1st Urology Dpt. is going to organize occasionally a series of supplementary educational meetings outside working hours and Medical School hours.The aim of these meetings is the presentation and more extensive discussion of incidents from the clinic both by the faculty members and by the students themselves, if they wish, in order to fill in any gaps that arise due to the limited time of the compulsory program. The program as well as the presentations of the courses, the absences, the grades and issues concerning the students will be posted on the website of the 1st Urology Dpt. (www.a-urology.med.auth.gr). The students are welcome and encourged to attend the in-training doctors teaching sessions and the scientific program of the Urological Association of Northern Greece, which take place in the Association hall (Odysseos str. 13) according to the program that will be announced on time. Special educational events (conferences, workshops, etc.) organized by the Department. The educational curiculum in Urology is offered in english upon request for groups of exchange (Erasmus) students

Description
The evaluation of the students will be carried out using digital media (use of Tablets), on a date and time set by the program of the Medicine School. The exam will last sixty minutes (60') and will include closed type questions in the form of multiple choice. On special occasions the Department offers the option of oral examination in Greek and English upon request. The final grade consists of 85% of the results of the final written/oral examination and 15% of the student's overall assessment during teaching and clinical training.
