Learning Outcomes
After the successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
1. understand the role of members of the interdisciplinary health team in Primary Health Care (general practitioners, nurses, health psychologists, etc.).
2. know the basic principles of communication with disabled people.
3. know the main axes of clinical examination (head and neck examination, respiratory, cardiovascular, digestive, musculoskeletal).
4. learn basic clinical skills such as taking a medical history with an emphasis on the present disease, venipuncture, wound suturing and bladder catheterization.
5. implement what they learned in simulation at the Clinical Skills Centre in Primary Health Care
Units.
Course Content (Syllabus)
The role of the General/Family Physician, community nurses, health psychologists, etc. of health professions of Primary Health Care. Health needs assessment. The levels of prevention. Taking a history with an emphasis on the present disease. Communication with people with disabilities. The introduction to the clinical examination with an emphasis on the respiratory, cardiovascular, digestive and musculoskeletal systems. Introduction to basic practical skills: Venipuncture, Wound suturing, Bladder Catheterization.
