Learning Outcomes
After the successful attending, students will be able to:
• To perform and teach all the basic skills in body exercises and in Rhythmic Gymnastics’ apparatus (rope, hoop, ball, clubs, and ribbon).
• To use the appropriate teaching methods and the appropriate method to the biological and coaching age of the children.
• To recognize and use the basic music rhythms concerning the children’s age in order to educate them on music locomontory.
• To develop and practice training plans for youngster and older competitive levels (pre-competitive level, hopes, pre-juniors, juniors and women).
• To know and practice the International Code of Points on competitive compositions for all the above competitive levels.
• To be able to participate as a judge in competitions of National Championships, at least at level pre-competitive and hopes.
Course Content (Syllabus)
THEORY
History of Rhythmic Gymnastics. The importance and the role of Rhythmic Gymnastics for girls. Relation between music and movement for ancient years to nowdays. International Code of Points for rope and ball. Analyzing the theory for constructing routines for young athletes and for pre-competitive and competitive levels. Judging competitive routines (compositions) with rope and ball. Rational combinations of different body movement groups. Girls selection for Rhythmic Gymnastics. Coaching plans for pre-competitive level athletes and hopes. Application of teaching methods, psychological preparation during practice and competitions. Also, in theory are analyzing issues related to ballet, rhythmical education, chorography, diet, psychology and prevention of injuries.
PRACTICE
1ST week. Practice in ballet exercises, which refer to correct body posture and use of body. Technical analysis.
2nd week. Evolution and use of portable apparatus. Tutorials special series for all joints flexibility improvement. Flexibility exercises, waves. Tutorial technique of fundamental rope skills.
3rd week. Tutorial technique of fundamental rope skills. Games and basic principles of children’s play. Analyzing technique and practicing rhythmic and dance steps. Chaine, soutenue and passé pivots. Saut de chat and jete jumps. Teaching methodology.
4th week. Tutorial technique of fundamental rope skills approaching advanced performance. Mastery exercises for hands. Passé, elevé, arabesque balances. Teaching methodology.
5th week. Introductory in pre-acrobatics body elements and variations, combined with rope technical movements. Saut de chat, sissone and jete jumps. Short routines with rope. Teaching methodology.
6th week. Arabesque, attitude, second in low level balances and its variations. Short routines with rope.
7th week. Evaluation of complex body and apparatus exercises according to the Code of Points. Split leaps, forward (jete) and sideways (anglais), and fouette jumps. Combinations of body elements with throws, wrappings and passing into the rope. Practice teaching methodology to 2nd academic year students.
8th week. Practicing ball skills. Improving fundamental skills and tutorials to advanced performance. Figure eight, simple rolls, bounches, large throws and catches after one or two body elements. Mastery exercises for hands. Teaching methodology.
9th week. Analyzing the theory of constructing routines with ball for children at young ages. Improving rolls on body technique, roll on hands. Improvisations. Teaching methodology.
10th week. Improving rolls with the ball. Combinations of pivots, balances and jumps with turn, with technical elements of ball apparatus. Improving technique of body skills.
11th week. Choreography instructions about the correct placing of elements (body, apparatus) and connecting skills for young ages with rope, application practice. Practice teaching to 2nd academic year students and novice rhythmic gymnastics athletes at local clubs.
12th week. Choreography instructions about the correct placing of elements (body, apparatus) and connecting skills for young ages with ball, application practice. Practice teaching to 2nd academic year students and novice rhythmic gymnastics athletes at local clubs.
13th week. Playing activities using ropes and balls,amall compositions in the team (ensemble), practicing jumps, pivots and balances.
