Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, postgraduate students will: - Know the basic characteristics of qualitative research and understand its role in inter-Christian, inter-religious and international relations and in the encounter of peoples and cultures. - analyse and elaborate texts related to the role of religion on the international scene -be able to take a position on critical issues concerning Churches and religions and their place in the global geopolitical scene -are able to understand and interpret the interconnection between religion and geopolitics, the function of religion in the foreign policy of States, as well as in the field of conflict prevention and peace-building, the importance of International Religious Actors in International Relations. -be able to understand the characteristics and importance of dialogue between Christianity and other religions, in particular with Islam, for mutual understanding and peaceful coexistence of peoples -be able to work individually and collectively on the various relevant subjects and will be able to make scientific use of all means of research. -be able to present the results of their research in a scientific and up-to-date manner.

Course Content (Syllabus)
The subject of the course is the examination of the role of religion in the international arena, the interconnection between religion and geopolitics, the function of religion in the foreign policy of States as well as in the field of conflict prevention and peace building, the importance of International Religious Actors in International Relations. Emphasis is placed on the position of the Christian Churches, especially the Orthodox Church, in the global geopolitical scene. Also the constructive dialogue between Christianity and religions, especially with Islam, for mutual understanding and peaceful coexistence of peoples.
