Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the course students will be able
-To examine Modern Greek Literature of the 11th-18th centuries in its engagement with aesthetic, cultural, political and social questions of the era.
-To recognize the main texts they were taught as well as the place and century in which they were composed.
-To determine approaches and organize readings in major writers and texts of the Modern Greek Literature.
-To translate these texts in fluent Modern Greek language.

Course Content (Syllabus)
This course introduces to the history of Early Modern Greek literature.It examines authors and texts of Modern Greek poetry, prose and drama from the beginnings (11th century) to the era of French Revolution and the Modern Greek Enlightenment. The course is based on a close reading of represantative literary texts in order to offer a full account of both the linguistic and literary developments taking place within this period.
