Course Content (Syllabus)
The purpose of this course is to present a synthetic map of the spatial phenomena in combination with the socio-spatial aspects of these phenomena. The emergence of a framework for both descriptive and interpretative tools that will serve spatial planning and development planning. The content of the course is defined through a more general context where social cartography is the most closely related discipline to anthropogeography. The map is the mapping of phenomena as well as the relationships that develop with each other over space, and is undoubtedly the most important means of transmitting geographical knowledge for the analysis, understanding and transmission of this information. The usefulness of cartography for human geography and the social sciences lies in the fact that it visually highlights the spatial dimension of a series of general or more specific and complex social phenomena and processes. The socio-spatial analysis of contemporary phenomena (poverty, delinquency, etc.) and processes as projected in space (urban-rural, urban and spatial scales, national, European and international environments) have a dramatic timing in crisis situations and require analysis and search planning and planning proposals from the point of view of planning and development engineer. The mapping of spatial processes and phenomena feed into the interpretative approach - with the use of appropriate theoretical tools, of course, to highlight unseen aspects and dimensions of socio-spatial reality.
