Course Content (Syllabus)
This course in an introduction to Experimental Psycholinguistics, i.e. the experimental study of human language. Firstly, students are introduced to the study of language as a cognitive function as well as to typical linguistic development. Secondly, students are presented with general issues of psychological research methodology such as measurement, sampling and factors affecting the results’ scientific validity. Thirdly, particular emphasis is given on the development of psychometric instruments for the study and evaluation of language. Language tests in various languages, especially English, Italian and Greek, are presented. Students are encouraged to employ language tests to assess linguistic proficiency in typical individuals. More specifically, they are tarined in results' presentation and analysis.

Description
a. performing prucholinguistic experiment (results presentation and analysis). The assessment criteria concern purpose clarity, accurate quantification, presentation and analysis of results. or b. written essay in which an experimenal psycholinguistic study is presented and evaluated in terms of the methods employed. In addition, the study's results are expected to be discussed. The evaluation criteria for the written essay concern the clear and precise way of method presentation and evaluation as well as the comments made by the student.
