Learning Outcomes
At the end of the semester, the student: 1. will be familiar with the basic aspects of the Orthodox Church's Worship in relation to the respective East and West functional traditions 2. Be aware of the content and method of interpretation of the main byzantine and post-Byzantine operative memos. 3. He will know the three Byzantine Aunts Functions and the specific themes that concern their operative order. 4. be aware of the historical evolution and theological witness of the sequences of the night and the operative year.

Course Content (Syllabus)
During the semester, the basic elements of Orthodox Worship will be studied. In particular, the particular spirit of the theology of Byzantine functional tradition will be examined in relation to the other functional types of East and West. It will be deepened in the history and the operative act of the Three Liturgies (Chrysostom, Vassiliou, Prequist) as well as in the Byzantine and post-Byzantine operative memos. We will also investigate the operating year and the sequences of the night. 1. Introduction to the lesson 2. Character and Achievements of Orthodox Worship 3. Functional formulas of East and West 4. The Three Divine A Functions: Chrysostom's Function 5. The Three Divine Functions B: Operation of M. Vassiliou 6. The Three Divine Functions C: Operation of Primary Gifts 7. Byzantine operative memos 8. Post-Byzantine Operational Memos 9. Formulation of operating year A: the weekly and the civilian cycle 10. The configuration of the operating year B: the fixed cycle of the holidays 11. The sequences of nighttime A: the evening 12. The sequences of the night A: the ax 13. Modern operational issues
