Learning Outcomes
The course aims to present Semiotics as a broad scientific approach to all branches of culture and its utilization as a means of understanding and interpreting biblical texts. Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to: * understand semiotic theory and its terminology * to apply, within the framework of theological science, the tools of Semiotics for the interpretation of biblical texts

Course Content (Syllabus)
The subject of Semiotics, Semiotic Theory, and its basic terminology are presented, and the main issues raised in the application of Semiotics in biblical exegesis are discussed. In particular, the way of semiotic analysis of the biblical texts is taught and the epistemological frameworks within which it can be properly carried out are defined. Exercises of the semiotic methodology are practiced in Bible texts. 1. The sense of the Semiotics. Definitions. 2. Theory of the codes. 3. Theory of the production of the signs. 4. Semiotics and biblical science. Semiotics and Theology. 5. Narrative Semiotics. Biblical examples. 6. Communicative Semiotics. Biblical examples. 7. Psyco-Semiotics.Biblical examples. 8. Semiotic analysis of texts. The hermeneutical prerequisites of the biblical texts. 9. Semiotic analysis of selected biblical texts. 10. Semiotic analysis of selected biblical texts. 11. Semiotic analysis of selected biblical texts. 12. Semiotic analysis of selected biblical texts. 13. Semiotic analysis of selected biblical texts.

Description
Submission of an assignment and the oral examination on it (70%).
The classroom participation (5%), the practice (15%) and the attendance of scientific conferences (10%) are assessed in addition.
