Student Assessment
Description
The course aims at the theoretical and tutorial preparation of students in writing scientific papers both during the student period and later, during their further scientific activity. It offers methodological and expressive tools for choosing the topic, searching for the material, writing the text as well as its oral presentation. The purpose of the course is to familiarize students with the requirements of a scientific paper: organization of the bibliography, research methodology, avoiding plagiarism, writing and presentation of the paper. The course is largely tutorial and, after the initial lectures, the students will be divided into two smaller sections depending on the type of paper they choose to prepare, focusing on the preparation of scientific papers on the one hand. The evaluation of the course will be done by a short mid-semester written progress (corresponding to 30% of the final grade) and a final written assignment (corresponding to the remaining 70% of the final grade). The students, after coming to an agreement with the teacher, choose a topic for a scientific paper either by doing a bibliographic research (Grammatikopoulou) or by doing a qualitative or quantitative research (Papanoikonomou). In both cases, the written work should be approximately 4,000 words in length (including bibliography).
Student Assessment methods
  • Written Exam with Short Answer Questions (Formative)
  • Written Assignment (Summative)
