Ability to use mesuring devices in order to get measurements on standing trees and stands
Ability to estimate parameters of forest stands, standing trees,

Introduction to Dendrometry. Measurement and observation errors. Types of measurement and observation errors. Accuracy, precision, and bias. Measurement of forest products. Measurement of trees. Measurement of length. Measurement of diameters. Measuring instruments for diameters. Diameter measurement procedure. Measurement errors of diameters. Calculation of basal area. Methods of calculating the tree’s basal area. Study of the form of logs and trees. Quotient form. Form factor. Form height. Taper. Form point. Measurement of volume. Volume measurement errors; Measurement of standing trees. Methods and instruments for measuring standing trees (Bitterlich's relascope, Blume-Leiss altitude, Suunto gradient, Pressler incremental drill). Volume-tables. Measurement of forest; methods of estimation of diameter. Distributions. Methods for estimating basal erea and height; methods for estimating the form characteristics; methods for estimating volume and biomass. The bias of the allometric equation. Additionality in biomass equations. Reference to age determination, wood quality and site grade determination. Measurement and determination of the incremental elements of the tree and clusters through the tree and cluster increment. Methods for estimating diameter, basal area and volume increment. Determination of volume increment with the relascope. Sampling designs. Basic knowledge about forest inventories
