Learning Outcomes
After the successful completion of the course, students will be able to: 1. Know the pedagogic value of theatre education for the aesthetic, personal and social development of children and young people. 2. Know and use the main methodologies for teaching theatre and use theatre in primary and secondary education. 3. Use the most appropriate methodology for the each educational purpose (theatre education, school performance, creative pedagogy) and according to the age of each group of students. 4. Use the techniques of theatre in education and their appropriate application in classrooms according to the grade of the students and to the educational/school agenda.

Course Content (Syllabus)
The sessions (lectures and workshops) focus on the exploration of the main methodologies that are suggested by the Greek and the international bibliography as the most appropriate for the uses of theatre in primary and secondary schools. In this context, each approach is theoretically and practically explore according to its relevance and use in the contemporary school agenda. 1st session: Introduction to the course and to the field of Theatre in Education. 2nd session: Main approaches and methodologies in Theatre Education. 3rd session: Dramatic play and games as a theatre method for primary school education. 4th session: Play and games as an introductory method to drama: approaches and examples. 5th session: Theatre Education for the first grades of primary school: narrative, role, image. 6th session: Theatre Education for the last grades of primary school: narrative, role, image. 7th session: Drama in Education 8th session: Drama and literature in primary and secondary school. 9th sessionο: Dolls theatre and shadow theatre. 10th session: Drama in Secondary education: exploring Shakespeare and Sophocles. 11th session: Preparing and staging a school performance. 12th session: Groups’ presentations, reflection and feedback. 13th session: Groups’ presentations, reflection and feedback.
