Learning Outcomes
(a) Students should acquire a general understanding of scientific (sub) fields covered by Educational Linguistics and, in particularly, the use of linguistic theories in understanding teaching.
(b) Students should be able to recognise and develop a critical view of recent scientific developments in the field of educational linguistics.
c) Students should be capable of interpreting theoretical proposals or teaching applications and of creating their own teaching materials.
d) Students should be able to organize small-scale research projects in the field of educational linguistics.

Course Content (Syllabus)
This course focuses on the relationship between linguistics and education and it concentrates on three sub-areas. 1. Linguistic traditions that can be used, in order to describe and understand education as an institution and the educational process. 2. Analysis of international trends in language education 3. Analysis of learning material and teaching practices using 1 & 2.
