(a) To offer a thorough introduction to several branches of classical scholarship as well as to central issues in scholarly research. (b) To outline a wide theoretical background for classical scholarship, offering the students the knowledge and all necessary tools for the interpretation of ancient Greek literature.

Course Content (Syllabus)
This course is designed exclusively for classics majors. It offers a detailed introduction to specialized topics in classical scholarship, such as, for example, ‘the history of classical scholarship’, ‘poetics and Greek literature’ or ‘theory of literature and classical studies’. These topics are explored through a theoretical discussion as well as through reference to specific ancient Greek texts studied in the original Greek.
