Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the course, students are expected to:
• Refine their personal research selectively among the available disciplines of Etching, Screen-printing and Digital Printing.
• Start conceiving/envisioning/conceptualising an aesthetic outcome that expands beyond the limits of printed image.
• Get introduced to contemporary photoetching processes that relate directly with most aspects of Intaglio and Relief Printmaking, and according to how these processes have been embraced in contemporary art practice in Greece and abroad.
• Expand their knowledge upon vector and bitmap design and printing software, as far as it concerns, the production of applicable photoetching transparencies.
Course Content (Syllabus)
The objective of the 7th semester courses is the pursuit of an aesthetic result where individual research is prominent. It consists of essays, student presentations, round table discussions in view of strengthening research content, critical thinking, professionalism, and preparing the ground of a more scientific approach of individual practice. The course programme includes: a) art events, galleries and museums visits, b) visiting lecturers, c) participation in art shows, d) visiting artists and art-theorists for tutorials, e) collaborations with other departments/workshops or external university departments of Fine Art.
During the 7th semester students will be also introduced to the methodology and concept of Photo Polymer Etching and its different technologies. The aim is to broaden the analogue process of printing towards the development of a vocabulary shared with photography and digital image processing.
