Course Content (Syllabus)
The field of Medical Law and Ethics to which the course "Medical Jurisprudence and Ethics" refers has developed and continues to develop at a rapid pace. As biotechnology develops rapidly, new ethical dilemmas concerning clinical practice (beginning, course, end of human life), medical and biological research, and public health are constantly emerging. The bibliography is enriched daily with many new publications (theoretical analyses, reviews, empirical studies, etc.). At the same time, the legislation changes, the jurisprudence is enriched and the theory of the so-called "Medical Law" develops. The main purpose of the course is to acquire knowledge of medical law, ethics and ethics which cover a panorama of issues. A wide range of issues is covered, ranging from the more "classic" such as medical negligence, artificial termination of pregnancy and end-of-life decisions, to the contemporary (such as assisted reproduction, medical privacy in the modern environment, transplants, involuntary psychiatric care, genetic material and genetic research, medical research and clinical trials) as well as very modern ones, such as cloning, human genome intervention, artificial intelligence, Big Data, and the creation of innovative entities that fall between the natural and the artificial. In addition, students are taught introductory bioethical issues such as bioethical theories and concepts (eg autonomy, social justice in health).
