Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, students will understand the specific characteristics of the cardiovascular system in children from birth to adulthood. Specifically, they will become familiar with congenital and acquired heart diseases of childhood, rhythm disturbances (arrhythmias), as well as all conditions and diseases of childhood that involve the cardiovascular system. They will also learn about the latest developments in the management of paediatric heart diseases and the handling of emergency paediatric cardiology situations.

Description
During teaching, PowerPoint presentations are used, along with recorded heart sounds on CD and online audio material from international academic sources, electrocardiographic recordings, videos of echocardiograms, and surgical/interventional catheterization procedures. The course includes exercises based on theoretical and clinical scenarios, simulations, and case-based discussions. As part of the clinical training, live echocardiographic imaging and interactive visualization tools are used for interpreting findings. Communication with students is supported through an educational platform and email for the distribution of materials, announcements, and instructions.

Student Assessment
Description
During the semester, formative assessment is implemented through multiple-choice questions and exercises based on clinical diagnostic and treatment scenarios, as well as the interpretation of electrocardiograms, X-rays, and other imaging findings. The aim is to provide feedback and adapt the instructional approach. In addition, formative assessment is carried out during clinical training in real settings, with emphasis on the application of knowledge, development of clinical reasoning, and communication skills. Summative assessment includes a final written examination with multiple-choice questions, which are graded and determine the student’s final grade.
