After the end of the semester, τhe student should clearly understand and be able to analyze using concepts and models of industrial organization: • Various pricing techniques of firms • The vertical relations between firms (supplier - retailer) • The strategy of product differentiation • Cartels and how to fight them - Competition Policy • The strategies used by companies to maintain or enhance their market power • Competition Policy • Digital Platforms

Course Content (Syllabus)
We will explain the structure of markets as they are shaped by the strategic behavior of firms. Pricing behavior as well as other strategies define the degree of competition and market form. The course will deal with issues such as concentration and market power, market power measurement, vertical relationships, product differentiation, advertising, entry and exit in the industry. Topics include concentration and market power, measurement of market power, oligopoly, cartels, vertical relations, product differentiation, digital platforms and competition policy.
