Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, students will:
gain a basic understanding of the theoretical approaches to learning
know the terminology and definitions of learning difficulties
understand the causal factors of learning difficulties
distinguish the cognitive, learning, and psycho-social characteristics of children with learning disabilities
become familiar with the criteria and means of assessing learning difficulties
become familiar with intervention programs and the supportive role of the family
Course Content (Syllabus)
The course deals with the basic concepts and modern theoretical approaches in the field of learning difficulties. Specifically, the course includes the following thematic areas: the conceptual identification and etiology of learning difficulties, the characteristics of children with learning difficulties, issues of assessment and diagnosis of these difficulties, comorbidity with other difficulties, issues of therapeutic interventions and the role of the family.
