Course Content (Syllabus)
The course constitutes an introduction to the principles, methods and techniques of urban planning, regional planning, and regional development policy. The course provides an understanding of key issues concerning spatial structure and spatial planning at the various spatial scales. More particularly, the following themes are addressed in each section: URBAN PLANNING: Urban development and urban planning, critical issues in urban planning, urban plans and the regulation of urban development, integrated approach to the relationship between land uses and transportation systems REGIONAL SPATIAL PLANNING: Regional spatial planning and regional plans, key concepts and approaches to spatial planning, territorial governance and spatial planning, maritime spatial planning REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT: Main concepts of spatial organization at the regional level, regional development policy and spatial development, location of economic activities
