Course Content (Syllabus)
The course focuses on the French novel production over the centuries, combining the history of literature with poetic issues. It consists of a historical itinerary of French novel production from the Middle Ages until the French Revolution. Its aim is to train students on the particularities of this specific production, i.e. evolution and modification of the genre, structure vs. sense, novel components, etc. The study of representative extracts and the learning of specific terms necessary for the study of a novel are included in the syllabus of this course.

11. Early 18th century novel b) Prévost, Lesage
12. Late 18th century novel a) The philosophical novel
