Learning Outcomes
Students in this course will be able to • understand the theoretical axes of the basic concepts of plurilingualism such as the plurilingual communicative repertory, the linguistic representations and the code switching • link theory to action by collecting data from language representations and code switching • become familiar with the use of research tools to collect data on language representations and code switching • practice writing linguistic autobiographies and their analysis • become familiar with the tools for using code switching in foreign language teaching.

Course Content (Syllabus)
The objective of the course is to familiarize students with notions of sociolinguistic representation and code-switching, which is the main characteristic of the plurilingual communicative repertoire. The subjects treated, through a theoretical and practical approach, are as follows: - Code-switching and interference - Code-switching and loans - Code-switching and mixture of languages - Analysis and types of code-switching - Functions of the code-switching - Code-switching and teaching/learning of French - Sociolinguistic research for data collection and code-switching analysis - Linguistic autobiography - Sociolinguistic representations and plurilingualism - Sociolinguistic representations and teaching/learning of French - Sociolinguistic research for the collection of data and the analysis of linguistic representations
