Course Content (Syllabus)
The aim of this course is to provide the students with more than a basic knowledge of computational tools which are used in automatic/machine translation. We mostly focus on machine translation systems, terminology databases and translation memory tools : 1. Machine Translation (MT) 2. A Brief History… from early years to present 3. MT systems 4. Differences between 1st generation systems and 2nd generation systems 5. Application of MT systems on corpora 6. Comparing different MT systems 7. Translation Memory Systems 8. SDL Trados system – Creating a memory 9. Translating with SDL Trados (doc files) 10. Translating with SDL Trados (xml and html files) 11. Terminology databases 12. The IATE Database 13. The Termium Database
