Learning Outcomes
- To understand within the current legislative framework the concepts of abuse, neglect, abandonment, and cruel behavior as they manifest against the well-being of all animals.
- To comprehend the approach and handling of any incident by the police at the pre-investigation level.
- To be informed about the preparation of veterinary forensic opinions aimed at delivering justice through case presentation.
- To investigate, within the scope of jurisdiction, the role of the involved agencies and the extent to which their actions ensure the protection of life and physical freedoms.
Course Content (Syllabus)
Articles of the Penal Code and the Code of Criminal Procedure governing Forensic Medicine for Bodily Harm and Animal Abuse. Impulse control disorders and assessment, Somatoform disorders. Injuries caused by striking, biting, cutting organs, and the physical injuries they cause. Examples of forensic cases.
Description
For the final evaluation and grading of postgraduate students in the courses, the following factors are taken into consideration:
a) distance learning / physical attendance in the classes..
b) Performance in an assessment judged by the instructor, either in oral or written exams, a research paper, or a combination of the above.
The grading scale for assessing the performance of postgraduate students is defined from zero to ten as follows: Excellent (8.5 - 10), Very Good (7 - 8), Good (6 - 6.5). A passing grade in the exams of the Postgraduate Program and the thesis is set at equal to or greater than 6.
